VIKING Pentagon Star for mass rescue operations
The VIKING Pentagon Star is a high-capacity mass rescue device designed for rapid deployment in situations where large numbers of people are already in the water. Developed for use from aircraft and rescue vessels, it provides immediate flotation, fast access from the water and a stable platform for gathering evacuees before retrieval.
Built for rapid access and stabilisation
The open reversible design allows entry from all sides, reducing congestion and enabling people in the water to access the device quickly. Once deployed, the large surface area helps stabilise evacuees, minimise exposure to cold water and create order in complex rescue scenarios.
Lightweight and deployable from air or sea
Weighing only 60 kg and packed in a compact valise, the VIKING Pentagon Star can be deployed from both rotary and fixed-wing aircraft as well as rescue vessels. Compared to conventional open reversible liferafts with similar capacity, the low weight and agility support faster response and greater operational flexibility.
Development status and contact
The VIKING Pentagon Star is currently under testing and is developed in cooperation with a national coast guard. The solution does not comply with SOLAS or other international legislation and is intended for professional and governmental rescue use.
