Bigger ships call for innovative evacuation solutions


Marine evacuation – the growing safety challenge
Cruise ships are getting larger. The new super liners currently being built or on the drawing board will soon be carrying upwards of 5, 6 and even 7000 passengers. More than double the size of normal large cruise liners that carry around 2000, they present a new safety challenge.

The prestigious Safety at Sea Award is given for excellence in saving and protecting life at sea. VIKING won the equipment category for demonstrating "an innovative and original development that has the potential either to reduce the risk of accidents, save or protect life at sea or improve on-board security".
