	Chute system In the event of an emergency at sea where there is a need to abandon ship, every second counts and rapid evacuation of passengers and crew is a must. VIKING supplies various key solutions to ferries and other passenger vessels requiring speedy evacuation in case of an emergency. The evacuation systems are manufactured to customer demands and specifications in each individual case. Approved throughout the world according to the most recent international regulation, the VEC (VIKING Evacuation Chute) system has been subjected to exhaustive trials onshore and at sea under various extremes of climate and in rough sea conditions. The system is deployed in one single operation and features controlled launching. The liferafts are self-righting, meaning that no matter how they land in the water they will always right themselves and be available for immediate use. They are automatically released to float free in the event of the ship sinking. The telescopic nature of the evacuation chute ensures a safe descent path and compensates for ship and sea movements so that evacuation is not obstructed. The VEC system provides controlled, rapid and safe descent of evacuees inside the reinforced Kevlar chute. This system has the additional advantage of protecting evacuees from environmental hazards during evacuation and is fitted with a protective cover. The self-contained and compact nature of the system allows for installation anywhere on board ship, either on open deck or between decks.
